This tree attracted the attention of many of you, so let me tell you about it. It’s a 400 year old ficus sycomorus with 52 roots, each root consuming 7 liters of water daily. This tree was used by the Wameru tribe as the location where boys between the age of 16-17 were circumcised, after which they spent 6 months sleeping on goat or cow skins between the roots, eating only meat. Offerings of food were also placed under the tree in the belief that rain would come soon after. No wonder visitors are encouraged to stop there for lunch!
